Hi, I'm Alek
I was born with Cerebral Palsy which means I can't walk without walking aids and have very little balance. I have to use a wheelchair to get around but I try not to let it effect me. That doesnt mean I dont dream of doing what other 9 years olds do, like playing football, cycling around where I live, even getting up onto chairs for dinner or to my desk to play on my computer without needing help and support to make sure I dont fall.
And now I have been given hope and a chance to get closer to these dreams with an operation called a Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. This operation should allow me to start using my legs as they were intended to be used but to have this operation I have to raise around £50000 and travel to the USA in April 2013 and I need your help to make that happen.
I have been lucky enough to partner with an amazing charity called Tree of Hope who are collecting money on my behalf so please help me to make my dream to walk a reality by donating or fundraising.
The site is full of information about the Tree of Hope charity, the operation and about me and what it would mean to be able to have this procedure, so please look around and if you have any questions then get in contact.
There are lots of ways to follow what is going on with Alek's Dream to Walk. We will keep this website and especially FaceBook site updated so please keep us company through this journey.
